Sage's Say
Hi
Me again. I've just got back from
NZ, visiting Gran and Grandad. It was quite eventful.
I've had my first ride on a plane.
Air NZ is in my good books, despite getting of to a shaky start - booking us on
different flights. Mum thought all her birthdays had come at once. After some
prompting I persuaded her to ring up and get us on the same flight.
Anyway, I enjoyed the flight. We
loitered on the airbridge so that I could greet late ariving passengers. Things
get a little hazy there, I think I had a nap on mum's shoulder. Next thing I
knew we were looking down on the clouds, and someone was setting up a basinette
for me. I had a play on my rug down by Mum's feet, then we had a stroll up and
down the aisle so I could meet passenger's I'd missed at the door. When I was
quite sure that everyone had had a chance to smile at me I requested a return to
my basinette, and had a snooze until we got ready to land. A nice lady brought
my bottle of expresso all heated up, so I swigged that all the way down. Mum was
grouching about sore ears, but I think the whole flying thing is a breeze.
Air NZ even had someone on hand to
escort me off the plane. I apparently looked enough like my passport photo to be
allowed in to the country, and although the contents of my nappy could have been
considered a biohazard at that point, Agricultural Quarantine didn't object to
me (a pity really - I was hoping for a chance to pat one of those cute litte
sniffer dogs).
Gran and Grandad were there too meet
me. Mum is jealous - she claims they have never been there on time to meet her!
My first meeting with Granddad went well - I deployed my best 1000 watt smile,
and refrained from leaving a little deposit on his shoulder.
From there it was a whirl. I've had
my first up close and personal meeting with a cat - Uncle Geoff tried to
persuade me that things would get really exciting if I pulled on the long fury
thing that is attached at the back, but something in Pus's eyes made that seem
like a bad idea.
I've also met my twin cousins
Samantha and Lucy, who let me try out their jolly jumper (lots of fun - I've
mastered a little jig in it that Mum claims makes me look like a drunken River
Dancer), been slobbered on by a calf, scared the sheep (I can make more noise
than them), and scratched a labrador behind the ear.
My boyfriend Damon came to visit.
He's 9 months older than me, and wow is he tall. When I was born Granddad went
to visit him, and told him specifically to keep his hands off me until I'm 21,
so I was curious to see why he was such a threat. I have to admit that I was a
little scared when he decided to climb into my playgym and give me a cuddle, but
anyone who shares their toys with me is OK in my book.
I'm also getting much better fed.
Mum had had me on rations of baby rice and fruit before (some silly idea about
waiting until I'm 6 months old to give me solids), but by looking hopefully at
Gran I've now had a chance to try out asparogus, peaches, pumpkin and porridge.
Granddad is a soft touch - he is good for a sample of grapes, ginger beer or
coconut ice-cream if I drool on him longingly enough. Mum now pulls really
interesting faces while changing my nappy.
I'm off for my nap now. It has
been an exhausting day. I think I will get to grips with Gran's cat tomorrow.
Ciao
The
Sage
